The Liposculpture, also known as LipoModeling or Refining, it consists in the surgical elimination of the excessive fat tissue that respond poorly to diet and exercise (Lipodystrophy).

This fat tissue causes loss of the contour, shape and silhouette of the body.

The Liposuction is a simple surgical procedure of extraction of fat that does not seek to define the body silhouette, it is used in targeted areas, such as Lipomas or the accumulation of fat in male breasts (Gynecomastia).

This surgical procedure (Liposculpture) allows modeling or mold anywhere in the body, i.e. restore the body silhouette.

It can be practiced both in men and women of any race, only requirement is a proper skin tone.

How is Liposculpture practiced?

The surgical procedure is performed in ideal shape with general anesthesia (in some selected cases, short term, local anesthesia and intravenous sedation can be used), infiltrating the area we want to intervene with tumescent solution (sterile Saline solution or Ringer Lactate with adrenaline, baking soda and Lidocaine) known as Klein´s formula.

This tumescent solution produces local anesthesia, vasoconstriction (temporary pharmacologic closure of local blood vessels) and liquefaction of the fat tissues (passes fat from the solid state to the liquid state, phenomenoun known as Hidrolipolysis or Hidrolipoclasys).

Finally, the fat tissues are extracted instrumentally through the use of various calibers and lengths suction cannulas.

Today there are available various technological variants of Liposuction and Liposculpture that facilitate the work of the surgeon and help improve the outcome of the operation, such as:

  • Vibroliposculpture
  • High-definition Liposculpture (Vaser Mode)
  • Liposculpture asisted by vacuum suction
  • Liposculpture asisted by ultrasound
  • Liposculpture asisted by Laser

The Plastic Surgeon chooses the technique of Liposculpture that it will use in each case according to the particular tissue conditions of each patient.

The Objective of the Liposculpture:

All techniques pursue the same purpose: extract the fat excess in atraumatic way, shaping the silhouette and body contouring with the higher definition.

The fat extracted and previously treated, can be transferred with the finality of filling and increase into areas that have filling defects (usually in buttocks, which is Lipotransfer).

This complementary procedure is known as Lipofilling, Lipostructure or Fat Autograft.

Potential Complications

Among the complications that can occur in a very small number of patients, are the following:

  • Bleeding
  • Infection
  • Dehiscence of the portals (surgical incisions)
  • Tattoo of portals (dark coloration around the portals by friction of the Strip or by Sun exposure)
  • Lumps
  • Scars retractions
  • Contour asymmetries
  • Embolism and even death (in exceptional cases)

However, with proper care and control, evolution tends to be satisfactory.

The recovery is fast, mostly with a very satisfactory result. You must use an elastopresotherapy strip the first fifteen (15) days of post-operative time, and receive for that same period of time, lymphatic drainage massages.

The patients can make their normal lives after the first week, but must wait 8 weeks for exposure to the Sun, heat, go to beaches or physical exercises.

A reasonable time of approximately 2 months is required to appreciate the excellent final result, permanent and very rewarding.
