The Arm Dermolipectomy or Brachioplasty, commonly known as Arm Lift, is a complex surgical procedure that eliminates redundant skin and excess arm fat, plus adjusts the subjacent muscles, when the patient has loss the local skin and muscle tone.

The surgical approach is through an incision in the armpit. I left a vacuum equipment type Hemovac or Portovac that usually is removed in my office on the fifth day of the postoperative period.

This procedure is indicated in all patients who have significant sagging of skin and muscles in the arms, with excess of skin that don´t respond to medical toning treatment, without distinction of age, race or sex, remodeling and toning the arm´s region.

Possible Complications

Among  the complications that can occur in a very small number of patients, are the following:

  • Bleeding, hematomas and seromas
  • Infection
  • Dehiscence of the surgical incisions
  • Anomalous  healing (keloids, hypertrophic scars)
  • Suffering of surgical wounds

However, with proper care and control, evolution tends to be very satisfactory.

The recovery is fast, mostly with a very satisfactory result. You must use an elastopresotherapy strip the first fifteen (15) days of post-operative time, and practice for that same period of time, lymphatic drainage massages.

The patients can make their normal lives after the first week, but must wait 8 weeks for exposure to the Sun, heat, go to beaches or physical exercises.

Without complications, the final result is permanent and very rewarding.
